Five-Element Acupuncture

Discover the healing power of Five-Element Acupuncture and reset to health and happiness

What is Five-Element Acupuncture?

I firmly believe this empowering unique system of medicine offers something quite special

Here I explain some of the basic approaches of Five-Element Acupuncture and the benefits it can bring for my patients:

The basis of Five-Element acupuncture is the understanding that there are five basic elements and the whole universe can be observed and experienced through these elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

The Ancients studied these fundamental elements and realised that they create and maintain the natural order from beginning to end but also one continuous loop. Seasonal cycles are just one example of this.

Five-Element Acupuncture believes that what happens on the outside, happens within us too. The five-elements represent the physical and energetic qualities of the human body and of the physical world. This means that we are all part of nature, we are fundamentally connected to nature and not separate.

When these five elements manifest in us in a balanced and harmonious state, we feel at our best and can fully enjoy our lives.

Acupuncture itself is a holistic system of medicine focusing on correcting imbalances of energy in the body. A special aspect of it is the way it addresses all aspects of the person, on all levels, promoting both physical and mental well-being.

Symptoms - our internal alarm bell

My patients tell me every day about the different types of symptoms they struggle with.

I see symptoms like a helpful alarm bell. They can remind us that there is something wrong somewhere on the inside. My job is to find the cause of your symptom or symptoms and realign the natural energy order again.

If you focus on rebalancing the inside, you will naturally feel more aligned and fulfilled on the outside.

Acupuncture uses very fine, sterile, single-use needles to stimulate specific points on energy pathways called meridians. They are incredibly fine and most people feel very little or no pain at all when they are inserted.

An acupuncture treatment involves inserting needles into the body in order to improve the quality of the qi (vital energy) and improve its flow. The overall aim is to direct the flow of qi to trigger your body’s healing response and to restore physical, emotional and mental equilibrium.

I have 12 years of clinical experience and my specialisms include…

ACUPUNCTURE & ANXIETY

Experiencing anxiety can be healthy! But…

If you are feeling anxious every day, or have turned into a frequent worrier, or you know your fears are out of proportion to the situation you are in - then that’s not good.

These experiences often affect our physical body as well. If you think this is you - acupuncture can definitely help!

ACUPUNCTURE & LOSS OF SELF

Do you believe you have the freedom to be your full self?

Do you ever feel like you need to perform in a certain way to fit in, or worry too much about what people think of you?

One of my favourite things about Five-Element Acupuncture is the importance of our uniqueness.

Your nature. Your truth.

When your mind and body are in sync you feel ‘in flow’ and resilient, and this organic ‘free’ state allows us to move forward in the right direction. An authentic life involves following one’s passion and being intimately connected to our natural abilities, strengths and talents.

Focusing clearly on what matters.

ACUPUNCTURE & INFERTILITY

The Five-Element approach involves a holistic review of how your body is functioning (mind, body, emotions) focusing on treating the whole of you.

This approach has hugely resonated with women and couples trying to conceive, as it’s not about treating the specific fertility problems, but instead discovering the underlying issue of the person and supporting them.

Appointment FAQ’s

  • During your Five-Element Acupuncture sessions, you can expect a safe and comfortable environment where you can relax and focus on your well-being. I will begin by taking the time to listen and understand your concerns, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of your health. This personalised approach ensures that your treatment plan is tailored to meet your specific needs.

  • During each session, I will ask you questions about how my treatments are making you feel. This helps me understand the flow of energy in your body and make the necessary adjustments to optimise your well-being.

As part of the process, I may conduct non-invasive tests and utilise a technique called moxibustion. This involves burning dried mugwort (moxa) on specific acupuncture points on your body. While it may sound a bit unusual, it has been well-received by everyone who has experienced it.

Throughout your sessions, I will always explain what I am doing and why, ensuring that you are informed and comfortable every step of the way. I also encourage you to ask questions, as your understanding and peace of mind are important to me.

Rest assured, your safety is paramount. With the use of only a few needles, my aim is not to fix, but rather to 'reset' your energy system, allowing your body to naturally rebalance itself. This approach promotes a sense of harmony and supports your overall well-being.

  • Naturally, it is common to feel apprehensive at first, but I want to assure you that your comfort and peace of mind are my top priorities. It may help to know that acupuncture needles are significantly smaller than injection needles, about 10 times smaller in diameter. In fact, they are only about two-thirds larger than the average diameter of a human hair strand.

During the insertion process, the needles are inserted and withdrawn in just a few seconds. With my well-practiced technique and the thinness of the needles, most people experience minimal to no pain at all. It's important to note that I strategically place the needles on specific areas of your body, known as the meridian lines. Typically, only 4-8 needles are used during each session, ensuring a targeted and effective treatment.

  • Yes, acupuncture is a safe and natural healing method when performed by a licensed and experienced practitioner. Needles are pre-sterilised, single-use and are disposed of immediately after use (even unused needles from multipacks are thrown away).

I have had all of my Covid vaccinations and follow strict government guidelines to ensure the treatment environment is safe, with full sanitation between patients.

  • An initial consultation, treatment and plan is £75. One hour treatment sessions are booked in packages of 3, 5 and 7 and average out as £55-65 per hour. I like to keep my prices as affordable as possible to be able to support everybody in the local community.

  • I’ve been qualified for 12 years and I’m AAC and BAF certified, which means that I always provide the highest level of professional care for all my patients.

I have completed the highest standard of Acupuncture training with the most highly regarded Practitioners and teachers. See my story for more details.

  • I’m afraid that’s impossible to say without an in-depth needs assessment. I suggest you book in for your free call though and we can chat further about it. But if it’s helpful to know my charges, I’ve listed them here for you.

  • At my acupuncture clinic, I prioritise creating an eco-friendly environment that not only promotes healing but also contributes to sustainability. I believe that every small step we take can make a difference.

PS If you notice anything I may have missed off my list, I would greatly appreciate your input! I'm always open to hearing new ideas and suggestions on how I can make my clinic space even more environmentally friendly.

Here are some of the practices I follow:

    1. Energy Conservation: I use energy-saving LED lights in my clinic room to minimise energy consumption and reduce our carbon footprint.

    2. Recycling: Every week, I take home paper, plastic, and glass for recycling, ensuring that we minimise waste and contribute to a cleaner planet.

    3. Digital Documentation: I have embraced digital documentation and communication methods to minimise paper usage, making my practice more environmentally friendly.

    4. Non-Toxic Cleaning: I prioritise the use of environmentally friendly and non-toxic cleaning products to minimize the impact on air quality and water systems, ensuring a healthier space for all my patients.

In 2024, I will be taking it a step further by implementing an eco-friendly wipeable treatment couch cover and professional medical-grade wipeable pillow covers. These additions will not only maintain cleanliness but also contribute to sustainability, making my clinic even more eco-friendly. Additionally, I encourage all my patients to bring in their own blanket to reduce the need for excessive washing, further reducing our environmental impact.

    5. Air Quality Improvement: To enhance air quality and create a calming atmosphere, I have introduced indoor plants in my clinic room. These plants not only beautify the space but also contribute to a healthier environment.

    6. Paperless Marketing: I embrace digital marketing strategies such as social media and email newsletters, reducing paper waste associated with traditional advertising methods.

    7. Sustainable Supplies: I carefully choose acupuncture needles that come with 10 needles per sleeve and just one guide tube in each blister. Additionally, I opt for medical supplies made from sustainable or recyclable materials whenever possible.
